Development brings people, resources, and cultural diversity to a community. It can enrich a community and make it a desirable place to live when done in a smart, sustainable, and environmentally conscious way. Community plans based on good research, expert opinion and significant community input form the basis of effective planning for now and for the future. An excellent community plan must benefit the current residents of Langley Township but must also consider the new residents who will arrive in the next 20-25 years.
Accommodate growth of over 4000 new residents per year.
Faster timelines for the development application process.
Care for the environment so development in line with the Sustainability Charter, the Climate Action Strategy (both adopted by Council), and the upcoming Community Forest Management Strategy.
Utilization of industrial lands for local job creation.
Make it easier for local businesses to start and thrive.
Build more walkable communities with connected multi-use trails, retail and services, parks, and community facilities.
Enhance the cycling network and build more separated cycling paths along new roadways.

We acknowledge that we are living on the traditional lands of the Kwantlen, Matsqui, Katzie, and Semiahmoo people. Our relationship with them is of the utmost importance.
Local government is the most responsive and connected level of government towards local issues. Whether it be in parks and recreation, transit and transportation, water, sewer, development, and protection of the local environment, the most connected government to the daily lives of residents in the local government. However, local government cannot operate on an island.
We must have a strong relationship with the Federal and Provincial governments that play a critical role in our lives.
Work together as a member of Metro Vancouver to improve the region.
Build a better-united approach with the City of Langley to overall strengthen the two “Langleys”.
Create strong connections with our closest neighbors in Abbotsford, Surrey, and Maple Ridge.
Work together with the Langley School District to provide access to schools, sports fields, playgrounds, and other educational facilities needed to educate Langley youth.
Maintain and develop effective partnerships with the various non-profit and charitable organizations in the Township of Langley.

World-class facilities help create a community that we can be proud of and one that stimulates the economy through job creation and increased tourism.
The Langley Events Centre and the supporting infrastructure (ie. sports fields, 2nd double gymnasium, sand volleyball courts, waterpark, and playground) are examples of excellent facilities that benefit the residents of Langley and bring a steady stream of visitors to our community. The new ACUCC and the recent Tennis Centre in Langley have been wonderful additions for our community.
Completion of the stadium facility to host a Canadian Premier League soccer team in Langley
To have a state-of-the-art community facility for community gatherings and the fine arts.
To expand opportunities for youth and adults to engage in indoor and outdoor sports activities.

Financial stewardship is a two-sided coin, revenue enhancement and budget management, and the Township Council must be diligent at both.
A sound economic plan outlines the revenue opportunities available to the Township and ways in which appropriate land use and development can create an economic benefit.
To be fiscally responsible with the resources given to it through taxation, government grants, and investment.
To take advantage of critical opportunities that come along while as the same time showing concern for our disadvantaged residents and caring for the environment.
Ensure that residents have the opportunity for input into a transparent budget process.

The Township is a wonderful place to live with over 140,000 residents in the many unique neighborhoods and communities. No matter whether one lives in a rural setting, resides in a single family home, or lives in a multi-family complex there is a common desire to part of a safe community.
RCMP well supported to handle the needs of a growing community.
Well supported fire department and emergency services that are actively engaged in the community. This includes full-time staffing of the Brookswood-Fernridge firehall, a second staffed firetruck in the Willoughby firehall, the addition of new firefighting apparatus, and updated and/or new firehalls to meet our increasing population.
Safe roads that consider the needs of vehicle drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.
Good lighting of our neighborhood streets, parking lots, parks, and playgrounds.
Ensure that the TOL services (ie. sewer, water) are able to handle the expected population growth.
Blair Cares
“I truly care about this community and want it to be the best place to live, work, and play. We are a diverse community and working together means that we listen to each other, value the unique perspectives, and make decisions that are best for the overall community. We need leaders on Council who put others ahead of themselves.” ~ Blair Whitmarsh
